Hi,
you should for shure go for a 9000 CS or CSE 2.3T '97 or '98, i.e. the last models manufactured. It's a great car. Very much resemblies the 9000 CC (your's '89 Turbo) but "facelifted". Personally I think the CS model was a perfect enhancement. Note that the 9000 family platform was practically left untouched between '85 and '98, leaving the internals pretty much the same thoughout the years.
However, between the years '89 and '97 Saab has made houndreds of (small) improvents which you will benefit from. And the last manufactured year/models of a any given car tend to be the best made.
Why not try to get hands on an Aero, 230 HP, all inclusive.
happy driving.
