Most of your stated problems could be due to low voltage levels.
Replacement alternator was probably a rebuilt unit, right? These vary in quality depending upon who did the work. It should have come with some sort of guarantee, but that might be a moot point since you are not near where you bought it.
Batteries can also have early failures, which is why many of them come with a free total replacement warranty for a certain amount of time. Chances are your battery has some sort of national warranty.
See how it checks out at your mechanic. You might also have a low level battery drain, which is accelerating your charging system problems - also solvable. Perhaps your trunk light is constantly on? There have been a lot of posts on how to hunt for these problems. I would not scrap a car due to a bad wire somewhere - if you can find it.
