I replaced mine a year ago with poly from Abbott Racing. They were very expensive, so I'm sure you could do better elsewhere (I bought mine as a deal with a friend).
The ride did become more harsh, but I like that since it gives me a feel of the road like I used to have in my old 900, and thought the 9000 was a little too soft.
BUT: I had also replaced my front sway bar end link bushings with poly, as well as replaced the sway bar chassis bushings with new oem rubber. The combination of all of these have contributed to the harshness; I don't know specifically if it was because of the control arm bushings.
It is not an unbearable amount of harshness, but that is a matter of personal taste. It is a stiffer feel, as well as road holding and handling improved remarkably. But again, this is due to all of the mods I did (including rear sway bar poly bushings).
As Mike stated, poly will last longer.
It should also be noted that each manufacturer of poly bushings is different. Some are softer than others. I think the consensus here is that Abbott poly tends to be on the stiffer side.
