Yes, thanks for asking. I've been so busy this weekend, I didn't have a chance to respond on my progress to that situation. Only had time to send out a desperate plea of help for this problem.
What I think happened with the O2 sensor is that, because I have a JT exhaust system, the opening for the sensor ("bung") is shorter than oem, which allows more of the threads of the sensor to be exposed to the high-heat of the passing exhaust. I think this may have caused those threads to expand slightly, making it harder for them to pass through the threads in the dp. After much soaking with Liquid Wrench, I was able to extract it out without any damage to the dp (but it did need a lot of muscle).
As it turns out, I have a tow truck coming for the car now, and will have it sent to an indie who is a 20-year Saab Master Tech that opened his own shop. I used to go to him when he worked for Saab and I had my '96 900S.
Hopefully he'll be able to resolve this. It just annoys me to no end that I only spent $7 on the filter ($5 plus s/h, an oem Bosch off of eBay), and now will wind up spending over $100 to finish the job...
Joe
