So I changed oil for the first time on my 88 9KT 5spd. Couple of observations that I was hoping you could help clarify.

- How do you remove the oil filter without having the oil spill over the chassis? More importantly, some is bound to trickle onto the rear-lower engine mount. And as we know, oil does bad things to rubber.

- I left the drain plug open for a while - a good 4 hours or so since I had other things to take care of. I came back and noticed a few small drips elsewhere. There was one at the clutch bell-housing. Should I worry?

- It seems that the head retains a lot of oil (also part of the reason I kept the drain open for so long). I added 4 qts in and I think its above the Max line. Isnt the capacity 4.5 qts on the 2.0L? How much does the head retain? And is it possible to somehow drain that out too next time.
