were operated by vaccum from the intake. Later cars, like mine a 1990, are electrically controlled by the ECU. Just to recap on my posting:
First, I arranged to take off the valve and noticed one of the contacts was corroded. I ohmed the contacts and got NO ohm reading. I jumped 12v from the battery between valve's contact and got nothing, the valve simply did not react. So I started cleaning the contacts using contact cleaning and a sharp blade to remove the rust. After about an hour into the task, the valve clicked closed under 12 volt from the battery and I got 48 Ohm reading between the contact. I thought my efforts payed off. Right, No. I simply opened contact with the ignition key turned to "on", then I connected the valve to its connector and NOTHING. I measured voltage across the connector and got nothing. the contacts there were rusted like dust. I have a spare connector so I spliced the wire and put everything back together. But the voltage measured only 8.4 Volt or so. Not enough to power the valve. Do you guys know If the 8.4 volt reading is normal or should there be 12volt at the connector. If so, where can I look next and what did I overlook. Thanks alot.
