Actually, all 1990 9000's were equiped from the factory with 195/65/15 section tires. They changed the tire size in 1989, I think but it was definitely that size when I bought my 1990 9000T new. 205/60/15 is a good size substitution from the standpoint of overall tire diameter.
The question at hand is the width of the rim. Tires are molded to produce a more or less flat tread to the ground for a given rim width and expected tire pressure. This rim width is in the tire specification chart produced by the manufacturer. (Check the specifications link when you are looking at a tire on the Tire Rack web site.) If the rim width is too small then the tire sidewalls have to flex more than normal in order maintain the correct tire patch.
I was only saying that 5.5 inches is on the small side for this size tire, not whether the tire would fit on the rim or whether the resulting combination would fit on the car.
