I am looking at the same tires myself...

I currently have Dunlop SP5000 Asymmetricals in 205/55R16. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent performance tire in dry, wet, and light snow. The only problem is that they do not last long. Mine are shot at 22K miles, and this seems to be the norm (reading the reviews). The price is also excellent on these.
I am now looking into the Conti ExtremContacts as well. They actually have ratings that outperform the Dunlops in every respect, including snow traction.
I am looking to go to size 225/50R16 with the Conti's. It seems these are on backorder due to some problem at the factory. I even inquired at a local tire store for these, and they called Continental direct and was informed production had been stopped on these particular tires in this size (there could be other sizes affected; I don't know). Supposedly, they will begin making them again next month.
TireRack stated that these tires are brand new, hit the market in February of this year. Because of this, they do not stand behind any of the reviews written since they like to have a million miles logged on tires before the reviews can be substantiated.
Since they are new as of Feb. '03, no one has owned them long enough to test them in the snow, so that rating is basically false. It is that rating that I'm most concerned with, living in CT and not wanting to switch between winter and summer tires, but needing something that can hold up to my Stage 3 mods.
So if you have any other info, I'd be interested in hearing it.
