Per Frank Freeman ... when you get the seals out, take the biggest hammer you have and pound them to oblivion. There, now you won't be tempted to re-use them ;-).
The Sears "Clench Wrench" is a wonderful tool for applying LOTS of torque. It is designed to grab tighter and tighter as you pull harder and harder.
When you fit the wrenches, position them so that the loosening is done by squeezing the two wrenches together. You can apply HUGE torque that way without ripping the filter off its moorings.
Get some wax based rust proofing spray (much nicer smelling and less messy than asphaltic based) and spray the fittings after you get it back together again - you won't be faced with the same nasty corroded parts next time.
Make sure you put the new filter in frontwards! THere's an arrow on the filter label that shows the direction of flow. (plus I think the fitting sizes prevent you from doing it backwards).
Have a large open pan under the filter to catch the fuel that pours out of the old one.
Don't smoke when doing this. Well, you shouldn't smoke ever, but especially not when playing in the gasoline.
Enough advice? ;-)
