Sounds very much like a bad fuel pump, although there are many other possibilities.
When I have a 'no start' I first crack the fuel rail bolt on the intake. Carefully, as the gas in the line is under pressure. If fuel squirts out then I suspect an ignition problem & change the DI cassette as they fail often.
If no fuel squirts out I check the fuel pump fuse and if it's ok then I change the fuel pump relay with a known good spare. As an alternative you can apply 12v directly to the fuel pump with a small jumper at the fuse box and listen for the fuel pump running.
If that doesn't work, take a rubber mallet and whack the bottom fuel tank right on the round flat spot where the fuel pump sits. If the car starts and runs fine then the fuel pump is bad.
Fuel pumps fail in an odd way. They stop in a place such that the brushes aren't making contact. If you give them a spin or a nudge they start running and will run fine.
If the fuel pump runs, then there are a few other possibilities; the fuel pressure regulator, again up on the fuel rail or the check valves down on the top of the fuel pump. The check valves are impossibly fragile and a real nightmare to change as the replacments don't really fit.
Good Luck
