but I realise that what I've said is subjective and other may have a different experience. It's like 17" or 18" wheels – some people love them (particularly their looks), some people think 16" are fine and less likely to cause permanent damage to both kidneys and wallet... I'm about the same age as MikeH98 and personally favour the second route.
I reckon there's definitely a case for fairly soft springs combined with really good damping. On the other hand, if you stiffen the suspension with poly bushings – as on the anti-roll/sway bars – the tires will have more work to do – especially on a powerful front-drive car.
