9000 clutch master cylinder removal

What is the easiest way of removing the clutch master cylinder on a SAAB 9000 (1990) 2.3 CDi (right hand drive). I've located the cylinder mounted low down on the bulkhead in the engine compartment, but it looks like the inlet manifold has to come off to get to it. Surely this can't be right?
