I own a 1993 Saab 9000 2.3L 16V Aero with traction control which had the ETS computer and throttle body replaced recently as a result of a traction control fault (limp home mode). Since the incident, if accelerator is floored, the turbo boost will creep unchecked into the red area on the turbo gauge whereas prior to the incident the APC would regulate and limit the boost to the three red stripes.
My saab mechanic recommended that I replace the APC solenoid valve as he had another TCS equipped vehicle overboost as a result of the same TCS fault. As directed, I purchased a new APC solenoid from the dealer, but the problem persists. I have also replaced the ECU with two other units, but again the problem is still evident.
I have verified that either APC solenoid will buzz with the key on engine off, using any of the three computers. I also verified that the solenoids are not short-circuited or "open" as evinced by the 3-ohm readings between center and outer pins respectively.
I have disconnected the APC solenoid so that the wastegate is directly connected to the compressor side of the turbocharger thus lowering the boost by diverging exhaust gases from the turbocharger turbine. The wastegate is operating as intended.
After the repair the vehicle also exhibits a rough idle when warming up and most of the time it will die out the first time around, but will not die out once restarted. The car has a little miss when idling after it has warmed up, but the engine pulls strong and flawlessly otherwise.
The car was taken to the mechanic for primarily idle speed diagnose/repair, but there weren't any codes nor installing another throttle cure the problem. After ardous, but fuitless troubleshooting, I picked up the vehicle and have since then re-installed the original trionic ECU, saab part#9136516 and replaced the MAP sensor.
Last two times that the vehicle was started from cold, the idle will not wonder as much nor will it die out. However, the miss is still present as well as the overboost.
The vehicle had the following new genuine SAAB parts installed in the last 6,000 miles.
Spark plugs
Crank angle sensor
Oxygen sensor
DI cassete
Thanking in advance for your help.
