Just in case this might help someone - I don't
remember if I posted this before, so here goes..
Many moons ago I worked on large industrial
high pressure steam boilers - the kind that
have to be opened up now and then to clean them,
and they have badly scaled and frozen studs and
nuts that are huge and very hard to turn in
even good times.
These things are always rusted solid, and when
I started, we would use a 3/4" breaker bar and
a 3-4' pipe, after spraying lube on them before
trying them - it was hard, at best.
Years later, I met this old Greek guy, and he
kept a 4 boiler plant in good shape for many
years as chief engineer - with very little help.
When I took over from him, he shared some of his
secrets for easy work - and the biggest ?
Kroil, by Kano Labs.
I swear I had a religious experience when I saw
how this worked !!!
We sprayed it on all the huge nuts from a pump
sprayer (he got it in liquid form, by the gallon).
We did this twice a day, hot, for two days.
After shutdown, we let the boilers cool for one
day while doing other prep work, and sprayed them
twice more.
Unbelievable - those nuts came off with a combo
wrench and so little effort that I could not
believe it.
Needless to say, I highly recommend Kroil, and
still use it, and have it in both aerosal and
what's left of a gallon here all the time.
Sorry that was so long !
