Can I remove the engine and trans together?

I have a '91 9000T with an automatic trans. Actually I have two. One has a bad engine and one has a bad transmission. Match made in Sweedish heaven, right? I am going to put the good trans into the car with the good engine as it is in better shape and has less miles. I want to pull the engine out of the "parts" car also to scavange accessories and junk the block. Can I pull the trans and engine as one unit? From what I've read on the board it sounds like they come out the bottom? I am fortunate enough to have a lift and an engine hoist, so I can go up or down with the car or engine/trans assembly. To put the good trany in the other car I was just going to pull out the bad trans alone. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Murph. P.S. My engine blew due to a failed oil pressure relief valve by the oil pump. The "new" car will be getting an oil pressure gauge.
