Okay-
Bought a manual '98 CSE with 17,500 on it this spring--
due its seducing "newness" have put on 10 miles from driving
from Mass to all over!!!
On Sat my lady and I return from CT (visiting Joe98 and fam)
with no problems whatsoever for the hour jaunt up the highway;
and since my lady was with me I could not drive over 80mph!
We get home and off the highway and at the first light I could not get into 2nd gear easily; was acting as if the clutch was not all the way in (it was)....Grrrrr!!!
stopped in to a shopping plaze and while she went in I drove it slowly around checking the shifting>>>>
Upshift
1st to 2nd - same symptom (grinding - 'force into gear')
2nd to 3rd - fine
3rd to 4th - fine
4th to 5th - fine
Downshift
5th to 4th - fine
4th to 3rd - fine
3rd to 2nd - same symptom (grinding)
Drove home going from 1st to 3rd.....on backroad....SIGH!!!!!
this is killing me cause of the low mileage but I know the Saab was
not driven all that much from its original owner and now is used almost daily by me....
all of my "power" driving is 3rd and 4th not second--
Is this the 2nd gear synchro gone bye-bye?
Is Eriksson's the best (I am near Prov. so CT is "close") to get my
trans/synchros rebuilt (bulletproof)...??
Should I expect that tranny will be 'weak' now and not able to handle
power upgrades??
C"mon ya'll I need some support/love here.....its great driving weather
and I am missing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
