Actually the circlip on 4th gear chipped/broke off and lodged under gear. They pulled tranny and repaired that part, replacing forth gear and other pieces. The rest of the tranny was OK, and they put it back together. Savings in parts vs new rebuilt from Erickson's was at least $1500 ($2500 for rebuilt as I recall).
They do not see many problems with manual trannys, and tend to think of them as very strong. Likely that your's is basicly OK too. I guess point is that they will check it out, and will fix only what is broken vs dropping in total rebuild. Worked for me, but would think not many experienced manual tranny guys out there.
