I'm seriously considering shooting this car!
This is for the drivers side (U.S). Where the driveshaft cup meets the tranny on a manual transmission. I was attempting to change the seal that had been disturbed from previous attempt at changing out the slave (a mistake). I need your help. In addition to having to get the bolts on that little plate out by using a nut remover, I then attempted to pry the plate off...BIG MISTAKE. Just when I thought I was making progress, it snapped - it's cheap looking aluminum. I assume I was going about all wrong. First I guess I need to know if I have the correct part number (I didn't come up on a search of thepartsbin).
871909 and below and to the right of that 2376/1
AND more importantly, how do I get this thing off CORRECTLY? I did a quick search and didn't turn up anything. Do I need to loosen the other side, remove the Circlip, etc?
I'm extremely frustrated with this car. This is my SECOND attempt at the replacing the clutch slave. The first time I removed the tranny, put it all back together and must have cross threaded the bleeder valve. This time I chose to remove powertrain. Everything is fixed now, EXCEPT the problem above. I can't put the powertrain back in the car till I fix it AND the engine is outside, exposed to the elements, along with the car - RAINY season is about to begin, so I needed to get this done last month.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. This is one of those things that makes me question my devotion to these lovable cars <sigh>
