I know from experience how frustrating this can be- been in the same boat, except I had a garage so the neighbors couldn't hear what was going on. I did the same thing with the bearing mount plate. What you see is just the flange of the bearing holder, which has one or two o-rings on it.
I'd hose down the area around there with PB Blaster to help it loosen up. I ended up buying a slide hammer to actually get the inner driver out, then made an adapter to fit behind the driver that bolted to one of the slide hammer accessories- I think the one to pull off hubs or brake discs. There probably is an easier way, I just couldn't think of one at the time. Some heat might also help free things up too, but not too much...Working on the tranny when it's on the floor is probably way easier than when it's in the car, though!
On the plus side, I didn't need to replace that bearing plate, just covered the inside with RTV- no leaks 35k later. The sealing must all be done by those O-rings. Hope this helps a bit!
