brake rotors, pleae advise

I want to replace my rotors with non cross drilled, or something of the HIGHEST quality. I've had cross drilled Brembo for 3.5 years and they were fine, but my front left has started to warp, as they are getting on in age, and badly grooved. I had an very dangerous situation a few months back desending a mountain pass (Coquihalla)...where typical highway speeds are 130kph. I was slowing for a corner, and I had unbelievable shutter from the front left, to the point where I was loosing steering control around a curve. This only happens at that speed under heavy prolonged braking (relatively speaking...slowing from 135 to 110 on an 10% run-out is a long distance).
Granted I don't do that drive very often, once a year at best, and I don't normally find myself in that braking situation, but..
So, I've looked at EEuroparts and other places....and there are a few options.
i'm not sure what my OEM were on my 88, ATE maybe?
There seem to be some choices: Zimmermann, Norbitt, Brembo (SASab.com) etc...
which is the best rotor? Relying on the 'get what you paid for' mantra, I'm leaning towards Zimmerman.
As well, what is THE BEST pad out there for street applications, that do not eat rotors.
thanks looking forward to input...
