...noise in and of itself is not a predictor of imminent failure, unless there's a LOT of it. Has it gotten louder since you've had the car, or are you convincing yourself that it has? Important question to ask in these situations.
Often fuel pump problems will manifest themselves in some other way, such as performance problems, hard starts, no starts, etc.
When I replaced a fuel pump, it was very loud but the car still ran fine (as long as it was more than half full). I probably could have gone for quite awhile in this condition but figured replacement to be a no-brainer.
I have a Saab publication which admonishes service departments that simply replacing a noisy unit might not be a claimable warranty item because so many had been replaced that were still pumping away just fine. There's a whole rigamarole of measuring voltages, fuel pressure, flow rates etc. that they insisted upon before they'd accept a claim.
In short, I believe fuel pump problems are usually a gradual development, and you should drive the car and keep note of the sounds you're hearing. Big changes, be more concerned, but some noise may just be the pump's style. Trust your car.
