1993 and the fuel pump has never been replaced, and it's noisy? How much you guess it would cost to do on the road? Hint, dealer price for part ~$475, add labor. What is the inconvienience worth? $70 now, $?? later.
Haynes has a pretty good write up on getting the pump out of the car. Scrounge the board for descriptions of replacing the pump motor at $70. I've heard it's tricky too. Don't use the gas line/clamp patch, it is not likely to last. Todd at eEuroparts is working on a new hose to make the job easier. I've heard that using a heat gun to soften up the pvc hose in the housing/sender unit of the pump, and a brake flare kit to hold the line, goes a long way to the success of this process. I used a heat gun to replace the banjo bolt by the filter. It took about 10 seconds to soften up that hose. The gun was set for 650f.
Todd suggests pulling the pump and letting him know whether the pump has one or three bumps in the nipple. Then he can ship you the right part.
