Without reading the codes it's tough to tell why the CEL codes are being issued. You didn't mention the year of the car, but if this is a '96 or later US version then it has an OBDC connector on the drivers side, right underneath the dash.
Lots of companies make inexpensive OBDC readers. Some are stand alone boxes, mine uses a Palm computer and an adapter cable. They are a worthwhile investment for any late model car owner.
Now, with that said, the symptom you describe, 'CEL goes out by itself, CEL stays, but always on start up' is indicative of a plug misfire. This is one of the earlier warning signs of a DI cassette on the way out.
I have also swapped DI cassettes between 2 of my 9000s and had the problem go away and never return in either car. Go figure. Some people on these boards suggest using dielectric grease on the inside of the plug boots. I suspect that would have solved my problem.
Good Luck
