I preemptively replaced the heater hose that goes to the tranny end of the block as it was getting mushy. Rather than go into the aquarium and replace the whole hose, I cut it off just past the bend at the block end and connected it to the existing hose with a flush tee. It's only the block end of the hose that usually goes bad, and now I can easily flush coolant as well.
