There are actually TWO hoses running from the block to the heater core, an "upper" and a "lower." Each hose is in two sections, the first that just is long enough to pass through the false bulkhead. Each hose is then connected with a plastic coupler with another length that goes to the heater core.
When you are in the process of removing the old hoses, do yourself the favor I didn't do for myself: Label the hose sections as "upper" and "lower" as you remove them so you'll be certain of which new hose piece goes where during re-assembly.
The hardest part of this project is actually getting the blower out; can't get to the heater core without doing this. And while you're going through this project, most of us would advise replacing the blower motor, since those are prone to wearing out and starting to make cricket-like squeaking noises.
Check out several posts out there on this site, on Townsend, on Quasimotors and on http://www.twinsaabs.com/9000/index.html. On the last site, these guys suggest removing the hood to make access easier; I really don't think that's necessary -- I didn't do it that way.
Get ready for scraped knuckles and forearms and multiple swears. This project is a pain. But it can definitely be done in a day, if you're good with this sort of work.
Good luck!
