The ECU code could be dumped out as raw binary. We'd probably be able to use mnemonic assembly language to work with it (assemblers are easy enough to write).
The rest of the simulated 'car', the part tha the ECU code would plug into can be written in just about any language, but I think either C++ or C# would be best (C++ because it's fast, C# because it's nearly as fast, and a lot easier to write with fewer bugs).
My intention was to possibly gel together the code for an 'ECU on a chip' kind of thing where we could dump the necessary bits of logic and ECU binary onto a programmable logic array. drop this chip onto a breadboard with a timer and some analog to digital converters (all relatively cheap components), and BOOM! Roll your own ECU!
We'll need a few things for this to work
1. People who know the Saab's electronic systems inside and out
2. People who can code
3. At least one person who's done work with realtime embedded controllers - realtime programming has some quirks and oddities to it that most developers aren't fully aware of (including myself), so this would be good to have...
