I have exactly the same problem with the auto tranny in my -88 9kT. The 2. to 3. shift is quite jerky with light throttle, but can be smooth if I hit the right RPM with the gas pedal upon acceleration. All other shifts are smooth and normal. The transmission box is original, with 117k km, the problem has been like this since I bought the car 3 years and 60k km ago.
I have adjusted the C-band, and the kickdown wire up an down many times. I have also bought Saabs repair manual, but did not find a solution to the problem there. I tap out and refill the tranny with 3-4 liters of Dextron II every time I change engine oil, 2 times a year. When city driving, I change between 2. and 3. manually to avoid the jerks.
Sorry, no solutions, but you are not the only one with this problem.
It would be really nice if anyone could provide a hint to fix it.
I love the car and plan to keep and repair it even if the tranny breaks down.
Regards,
Thomas
