>>>3)Getting blinded by fake "xenon" bulbs is a PITA at night, and I was wondering if anyone had luck installing an electroic auto-dimming rearview mirror. It seems like it would be easy to get power to it from the overhead console, but I just wanted to make sure before going out and buying one.<<<

I had the Saab 9-5 auto dimming mirror (see link) installed in my '95 9k CS. It works beautifully! I can't stress enough how much you'll love it!! It was an easy install, too. The little light fits fine with it, just like with the old mirror.

>>>4)The headliner material above the rear seat is sagging a little bit. It's not too bad, probably an area 2 feet long by the width of the roof. I'd rather not replace it, since a replacement probably won't match the sunroof panel.<<<

This is a common 9k problem. (Never happened to me yet, thank you very much!) There is an easy 2-piece replacement system for it, but I forget the website. Search "headliner" in the archives. Some have simply used spray-on adhesive to re-attach it, and it worked OK.

>>>5)The speakers are sounding crappy, probably because of age. I have the Clarion system with in-dash CD player and equalizer (not H/K). I'd like to keep the "stock" look, so ideally, I'd like to pop out all of the old speakers and replace them with better ones of the same size, nothing too complicated. I've read that one of the rear speakers has an amp built in (??); does this mean I won't be able to simply put in new speakers?<<<

I don't believe there is an amp built into your speaker; I never heard of this. I believe it is under your rear seat on the older models. In mine, its under the passenger seat. The speakers are replaceable. Check out crutchfield.com for more info.

Good luck with your new car. Take good care of it and it will take good care of and protect you. Don't be intimidated by stuff that breaks in the next few months. That always seems to happen, but once you get everything in good working order, you'll find out that the car is extremely reliable and well built/high quality.
