NG cars have lost that smell. Smell plays a big part in psychology. The Swedes are not dumb. You can put your blindfolded head into every car and you'll instantly know which one is a SAAB. You would think GM designers would take such little overlooked attributes into consideration. I'm unsure of GMs influences in the interior design (I can only assume a big one and using their material resources as well) why would they want such a prestigious car to smell like every other cheap GM product. I grew up with around a GM dealer and the very smell of all new (GM) cars is actually nauseating (not trying to be funny). It makes me car sick!
So what is it about the old material, and how can we get it back!
