Steve
If your car went into LHM it is because the TCS computer detected a fault in the system, either electrical/mechanical or vacuum problem.
you can play with this and try to do many things that may or may not help however, this will not likely to cure the problem.
the things you can do without ISAT or Tech 2:
turn the key to run and look at the red TCS CTRL light, it should be on for 1-2 seconds and then off (unless the car is std trans. and the abs accumulator is not fully charged-in this case prior to this test leave the key on until ANTI LOCK and BRAKE FLUID lights are off, then start the test)
if your TCS CTRL light stays on that means that the key-on self test has failed, and since you did not start the engine yet it is very likely that you the ecm detected an electrical circuit problem and not mechanical or vacuum problem.
If the TCS CTRL light was on for 1-2 seconds only, you have better luck because the ecm did not find an electrical problem while it ran the key-on self test, and it is waiting for you to start the engine. If you only get into LHM after the engine has started (I.E. red TCS CTRL light on plus low idle no cruise control etc.) you are likely to have a mechanical or vacuum problem which is usually possible to figure out without scan-toll.
Hope this help
let me know if you need more help
