Air Con in 1991 9000CD not really cold enough

This BBS is fantastic as I have learnt heaps about SAABs.
I live in Melbourne Australia and am in a really hot summer which is getting hotter. Come February we will be getting temps upwards of 40-44degC (105-113degF) in the shade and my car is a dark blue oven already.
I have had the whole aircon system serviced (regassed etc etc) but it isn't anywhere as cold as say a Toyota Camry or Chrysler Neon is.
Any one got any ideas how I can get the temp down further from say 11degC (inside the car, 26degC outside temp)? I have insulated the cold pipe from the compressor and cleaned the heat exchanger and fan of bugs. What more can I do?
