As others have said, all years of the 9K automatic are pretty much the same. I've heard rumor that the newer cars were better, but have seen no proof. I put it down to wishful thinking.
If the tranny is original at 127K, I would be concerned. You should have maintenance records on the car to tell you. No records? Then walk (run) away, period.
However, you can always see how the tranny feels. It should shift butter-smooth. Jerky shifts, pauses between shifts, hunting, or engine over-rev, especially on downshifts are a bad sign.
If the tranny is original, then build into the price of the car the cost of a replacement - about $2500. If the tranny lasts for the next six years, then you're ahead of the game. If it dies in three months, then you've met expectations and have the money on-hand. And you'll have a car with a fresh tranny good well past 200K.
