Heater Core / Head Gasket - 94 9000 CSE

I just upgraded from a 1989 9000s to a black 1994 9000 CSE Turbo. The car is in good shape with 105K miles but it has some problems I would like input on. I'm very excited, and I have lots of questions for those who feel like giving me some input.
1. The heat does not blow hot which I diagnosed as a possible blocked heater core which also seems to be leaking. I have since removed the old leaky heater core and am awaiting a new Nissens part from eeuroparts.com. This whole situation worries me because there is old fashioned green coolant in there and the previous owner said he had some coolant parts replaced (could my head gasket be next?).
2. I know that many have reported that 94 cars are supposed to have TCS. As far as I can tell, there is a cable running directly from the pedal to the throttle plate, so I do not think it has TCS. Is this a fair assumption?
4. I am going to clean my engine. Usually I just go do this with the pressure washer at the car wash being carful not to get too much water on the alternator. In this case I'll be extra carful of the DI as well. Anyone have any suggestion on better ways to clean the engine?
5. What other preventative maintainance should I do right now that will extend the life of this vehicle through my hard driving?
