Hi,
I'm hopefully a proud new owner of my first saab - a
'93 9000 Turbo CSE automatic with '87k on it. The
car looks and runs great, but it came with no doc.

After my first of many 300mile trips, I had a concern
I hope you can help me with.

I get a loud drone between 2600 - 2900 rpm (ie
cruising speed). It increases in volume as I approach
2600 and seems to max out around there and is gone
around 2900 rpm. It really doesn't matter what speed
I'm going and it even does it in neutral. It almost
sounds like a hole in the muffler or something. Is
this normal?

Other symptoms:
No noticable vibration
Car handles well even at 90mph.
Some kind of "Unusual" noise under the hood. note, not
having much experience with saabs, "Unusual" might be
very usual. maybe cracked manifold?



I can certainly live with it, I just don't want to
ignore it if it could be a problem. I don't have a
saab mechanic yet, nor can I afford to visit my
friendly neighborhood (st)dealer - as I see people
like to refer to them as.

Any recommendations for the Detroit or Chicago areas?
