...while you stand over the engine bay and try to find the source of the noise? Before you fix anything, remember to always check the obvious, simple stuff first.
I'd Check:
-- Upper Engine Mounts. Check the two upper ones on the passenger side -- how's the rubber look in them? If these are shot, it's a relatively easy and inexpensive repair.
-- Exhaust System Loose. You'll be able to hear it if this is the problem. Again, a cheap and easy fix.
-- Hood. Is it latched correctly? Perhaps getting it properly closed solves your problem. This happened to me on another of my cars -- you never know.
-- Lower Engine Mounts. These are hydraulic mounts. Checking them will be more difficult -- they're below the engine, one just ahead of the right front wheel (below the motor, of course), and one just behind the right front wheel (again, below the motor). If you stand above their location and shine a flashlight down there, you MIGHT be able to see whether these are leaking any hyrdraulic fluid. I tend to doubt these would be a problem at 87K miles, though. If they ARE the problem, the parts are more expensive and the labor much more involved.
-- Transmission Mount. This is located in the front left of the engine bay, just inboard of the left front wheel. It's a circular bushing in aluminum housing, vertical in positioning. How's the rubber bushing look? Again, I should think it would be fine at such low mileage. If it IS gone, since you have an auto trans, be sure to replace with another RUBBER bushing, not the poly bushing. Not very expensive or difficult to do.
I bought almost all my parts from a TSN sponsor, eEuroparts. You can use their site to determine cost of parts once you know what work you need to do.
Good luck!
