1. MapTun's software delivers torque in the rpm range that is transaxle friendly.
2. The boost pressures are attenuated in both 1st and 2nd gears - just like the factory.
3. Manifold pressure (?), heat and oil pressure are non-issues if the tuning is done with proper staging, which both programmers at MapTun share in their tuning philosophies. A 3" downpipe with tuned software will produce lower intake and exhaust temperatures than a stock Aero.
4. It's ludicrous to compare B234 turbo engines with Volkswagens....say no more!
5. I rarely experience wheelspin, even with over 300 hp, by being careful with the 'loud-pedal' . My software produces peak boost in the 3500-4500 rpm range. This means that huge gobs of torque isn't being transmitted at low rpms in 3rd, 4th or 5th - the range where damage is more likely to occur.
6. You make statements that appear to be anecdotal and are not backed by any statistics that I am aware of: "increased failure rate of +'94 transmissions" - just what is the rate? What's the sample size? Here's an anecdote for ya', my 9000 has had 'tuned' software for the past 50k miles
and I've experienced no transaxle, heat, or oil pressure issues.
7. Tuning is like anything else: if done with some thought about basic engineering principles, it can result in a drivetrain that is just as 'safe' and sometimes more efficient than the stock drivetrain.
8. The point about the pressure plate is a legitimate one - it cannot handle the difference in torque between the two stages that Sinogue was considering. I just wanted to forewarn him that he should be prepared to shell-out big bucks to equip his vehicle to handle 295 hp. With well-written software, the transaxle can actually handle much more power.
