and it has been an awesome ride for a little more than a year now (aka 15K miles)!!!
I installed a K&N air filter for better air delivery, a complete JT 3" exhaust for better turbo breathing, a piston-style Hyperboost BPV for better handling of turbo boost, and a BSR ECU software upgrade for better horsepower and torque. I did all of this to my '98 9000 with an auto tranny. Knock on wood, not one problem since, and I have never looked back (except in the rear-view mirror when passing BMW's, Audi's, MB's, and even Mustang's!). The VDO oil temp never shows higher than it did in stock-form, the ATF is the perfect color/feel/smell, and the plugs are always in their usual condition during maintenance time (6K re-gap, 12K replacement). Max hp is probably at 250, torque close to 380Nm (less due to it being an auto). The software still maintains all safety issues as oem: torque is limited in 1st and 2nd, wheelspin is avoided in 1st, boost cut back when approaching 5K rpm's.
What I'm trying to say is that Maptun, BSR, SQR, and SD are all trusted tuning guru's specifically for Swedish cars. But as Zeke pointed out, you must follow their recommendations with other components (exhaust, air delivery, etc.), since their "tweaks" are built around these factors being in place.
BTW: my whole set-up cost a total of $1100 (all new, purchased in phases, prices from '02,) and were all DIY projects.
Don't forget to upgrade your suspension to handle this extra performance.
