I had to remove the big washer from mine...

when I installed a new idler pulley. The oem "large" washer/spacer that goes between the pulley itself and the head of the bolt did not allow enough bolt threads to bite, so I removed it and installed the pulley without it. This was about 6 months ago, and so far, so good.
But this goes to show how certain parts do not match up to oem, and the pulley I bought was supposed to be of Saab quality from eEuroparts (though not oem).
