Technically, after an broken hose or bleeder valve replacement, you don't need calibration.

Saab states that after bigger parts replacement, Throttle body, TCS ECU, ASR ECU, LH/Trionic ECU, ABS ECU, pedal potentiometer, KDW motor or kick down cable (or even engine and transmission), a calibration has to be performed.

I am kind of lazy though and perform a calibration on every TCS equipped car that comes in with a problem.

It's no big deal for me since I have the tools and knowledge and it helps me fault trace the problem a lot quicker.
It's no use "beating around the bush" trying to find a problem if it only needs a reset/coding and calibration.
If the car still acts up for me or if the customer comes back shortly, I know I did all the easy stuff right the first time and it might need a new throttle body, especially if it have the original part number.

You wont beleive how many TCS cars that comes in that have fault codes stored from earlier attempts of a mechanic trying to calibrate or an owner that have unplugged several things with the ignition on.

All these small things make the system fail in different ways. You never know from time to time.
Keep in mind that just because one repair worked cherry for one car doesn't mean it will work on another. And just because it says Saab on the sign of the shop doesn't mean the mechanic knows all the shortcomings of this early TCS system.
