can pressure bleeding damage brake components?

Having a problem with my front brakes (88 turbo, 189k miles), and wondered if I created the problem. I replaced the front rotors (pads OK), and bled/flushed brake fluid several times.
To bleed, I used a reservoir cap with a valve stem fitted through the middle, and added air to the reservoir up to 40 psi. Bled fluid into mason jar with end of latex hose immersed in fluid. I also bled the clutch slave cylinder. Have I damaged the accumulator?
Now, the car will pull to the right when the brakes are applied. It takes about 30 seconds for the "Brake fluid" light to go out in the morning. Brakes were normal for about 36-48 hours after they were bled, but after that, the pedal goes almost to the floor before it engages.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, especially how to test the system to isolate the problem.
