Agree with Scott - headlight relay. The underhood mounting location is pretty severe, and the relay itself is held to the circuit board with the same solder pad used to carry current. The solder pads form micro-cracks. Depending on which pads are cracked, the make-or-break can mimic you hitting the high-beam switch, or you turning off the headlights.
The direct solution is to replace the relay. I wouldn't use a junkyard one, as they would have the same issues.
The cheap approach (I love the cheap approach) is to re-flow the solder on the pads. Not a big deal on the large pads; on the small solder pads, you have to be careful not to overheat the components attached. If you can handle a soldering iron, it's cake. If you've never used a soldering iron for electronics, I wouldn't take this as the opportunity to learn. Then again, if the worst happens and you cook the old relay, you're in no worse shape. If you haven't done any electronic soldering, ask around for help from someone that has.
