yes if you loosen the bleeder enough to pass a reasonalbe amount of fluid, no if you pass a trickle of fluid (with a LOT of vacuum. I did not have a pressure bleeder when i did mine---and I was in a jam....I actually got the fluid started with the Mityvac, and had my smarter half compress the clutch. Not the preferred way, but it got a functioning clutch...probably with a bit of air in hte line though;-)
