...the radiator will continue to do its job, whatever its efficiency, until, well, it doesn't. And you'll notice that by the consistently higher temp readings you get, both moving and in traffic crawl, even after a good coolant service and thermostat.
I see your logic, and it's good, it's just that I am always quick to point out that it's surprising how, if you do just the simple things, these cars tend to last and last and last. The money you spend on a radiator might come in more handy elsewhere in the car, and leaving a theoretically less-perfect radiator in place isn't necessarily going to hurt you. How many of these things accumulate hundreds of thousands of miles on the original radiator? Heck, some probably go that far on the original clutch!
