That's an interesting way of repairing a car, "this item is too expensive so therefore it's not at fault". lol
I guess the motor is still located on the right side under dash accessible from passenger foot well.
I have never had to replace one on a 9000 with a passenger air bag so I'm not entirely sure if the air bag has to come out or not.
On the older models I always removed glove compartment and kick panel to access the two motors.
If you have to remove airbag and turn on the ignition while it's disconnected, you will end up with an SRS fault code that needs to be reset by the dealer or indy with Saab scanner.
A Saab shop can also dry run the different motors with the scan tool and maybe be able to find the culprit before tearing the car apart.
