Hi Mark, Ari and anyone else w/alternator concerns.
After cleaning all the connections, I had a "low glow" BAT light and no charging. I replaced the Brush Pack/Voltage Regulator - about $40, now Saab is fine again. Charging at about 13.4 to 13.6 volts. BAT light comes on bright when it should - ignition on, motor not running.
The Original Alt & VR lasted about 120 KMi. The rebuilt Alt, by Bosch, lasted about 45 KMi - at least the brushes. Possibly they do not replace brushes when they "Rebuild" an alternator?
Took about 2 hrs to remove the fender liner, Serpentine belt, PS pump, alternator, old brush pack and then put everything back as it was. But I tend to work at a relaxed pace.
Hope this helps, thanks for your help,
Osg
