Anyone want to stop long enough to look at the PROBLEM?

I have strong opinions too. I doubt seriously that Saab's go through brakes faster than Acura's. These are simply wear items. Japanese are definitely easier to maintain than ANY European car, generally speaking. If the European driving experience, Saab in particular, isn't special to you, this isn't worth the trouble and expense.
But let's get to your actual issue. You failed NOX. Saab's generally sail through that one with VERY GOOD numbers. These cars are very clean. I've only found two main issues that cause it. Spark plugs and wires are definitely another candidate but I regard that one as obvious. The next most likely area is the EGR system. My brother and I have had more than one failure for that. Broken valve, blocked exhaust feedback ports, leak in the return (which you will HEAR). The final thing to consider is the catalyst. We had a NG900 fail this year and a junkyard CAT fixed it. Between us, we have 4 operating Saabs; two 9000's and two NG900's. To be honest, only the 900's have ever failed an emissions test so I gave you NG900 and Lincoln Town Car experience.
