I'm not sure quite what is breaking from your message. I've had a lot of Saabs and the only thing related to the fan that has ever broken in any of them is the switch in the radiator. If that's what you keep replacing, I'm not surprised. I have had them last as little as a week before the get unreliable. As for keeping the fan on all the time, I've done that in the past and never killed a fan. Should be fine. I've done the switch thing too, but it's inevitable that at some point, you will be inattentive and forget it and let the car get hot.
The fan controller can be found on the townsend website under links. I will include the link here. If the website id down, email me and I will send you the info. It's more expensive than a fan switch, but it seems like a great solution. I've only had mine for a few weeks, but I do believe that it will be longer-lived and more reliable than the regular switch, and it keeps the temo very steady.
