by removing it and using a propane torch on the "finned" sensor end. I did this with an old oem one and it fixed it (albeit for only about 6 months, though), since a new one I had purchased did not work correctly. It seems this is a common malady of replacing the O2 sensor. The new one you get sometimes does not work properly, or the ECU just cannot pick up the right signal from it.
