Changing the oil is cheap insurance. First, the oil handles part of the cooling job, so it was overheated. This breaks down the oil faster. Second, there is a chance of some coking in the passages, and fresh oil will help some.
I've had cases where what sounded like a noisy timing chain was quieted by a fresh oil change. That's because valve noise can sound a lot like timing chain noise. These are hydraulic lifters, and sticky oil can make for some interesting clatter.
For the cost of a few quarts of oil and a filter, I know I would do it.
