Last week, I drove my '98 9000 CSE (manual, 150,000 miles) from central Pennsylvania to Hatteras Island, NC. I was there for a week with no A?C problems. On the way back near Williamsburg, I came out to my car after being parked for 2 hours, and I had no cool air after start-up. I checked fuses and swapped relays (same part No.). I drove home with occasional stops, and had no cool air. However, after a couple of days, I would sometimes get cool air after restarts of the engine. If it wasn't cooling after I started the engine, it would never cool. If it was cooling after I started the engine, the A/C would continue to cool until I shut down.
Now I get cool air after every start-up, as normal, and I've cancelled a visit to the mechanic. Who would have known Saab included a self-healing feature? It is a Sanden unit.
